In Memory of Murphy and Blog Candy

Using my Lockability stamp from Repeat Impressions, I created this triptych dedicated to my basset hound, Murphy.

This folds up to form a locket. You can decorate both the inside and the outside. There are lots of possibilites; create a pocket, a mini memory book... and so much more! You can view more ideas on the Repeat Impressions website.

This was my basset hound Murphy, sadly he died shortly before his 4th birthday from stomach lymphoma. He was a big cuddly goof ball who loved snow, chasing red pointer lights, being blow dryed and me. I still miss him.

So for a chance to win this very versatile stamp from Repeat Impressions, a $17.99 value, leave a comment on this post. I will chose a winner with Random.org on Monday, April 20th.

What a wonderful memory piece for Murphy. I know how hard it is to lose a pet, they become a part of your family and leave a large hole when they pass. We lost our German Shepherd, Conan, to lung cancer in 1998. We had never heard of a dog getting lung cancer and neither of us are smokers. Our son was devasted as were we when Conan died and it took us 7 years to finally agree to get another dog. Four years ago we rescued a wiggly, full of energy 1/2 husky, 1/2 Shepherd pup we call Jackson. What a sweetie he is, and 2 years later we rescued a 2 year old full shepherd named Thor. So now we have 2 four year old "pups" in the house that are spoiled rotten and we adore them. But not a day goes by that I don't think of Conan and miss him. So I completely understand your feelings for Murphy. I think your triptych dedication to Murphy is so wonderful, I know he must have been a special dog to garner such love from you.

Love how you preserve the memory of your cute dog! We just recently had to put down our cat that was 19.5 years old! Heartbreaking. I'm just so amazed how these pets are more than pets but family. I still remember my horse that was put down due to a crippling disease 10 years ago!

What a wonderful idea. I like making mini albums as remembrance gifts, and I like this even more.

Thanks for the inspiration

We too once had a Murphy Brown dog (mastiff and greman shepherd mix)... We had friends that had her first and I told them if they ever had to get rid of her call me... They move to NY for a job and they called me we ended up with her longer then they had her... I always sent cards and photo's ever year to them from her...

I love the pictures of your dog, Murphy. Especially the puppy one. I know how you feel about losing him. When our dog died I cried for several weeks whenever I thought about him. They are just like one of the family. Glad you now have 2 more, but as many as you have they never really replace the one you've lost. Edna B.

Sandy I didn't know about Murphy. It is so hard to loose a baby due to old age but young like Murphy is the hardest. I know only too well as I lost Sparty at almost 5 yrs to cancer. I love your memory of Murphy.
