Goodbye to my sweet Molly

My best friend and companion of the last 11 plus years, Molly, my basset hound, went to the Rainbow Bridge today.  The day started out normal, she was up and happy, ate her breakfast, bossed her basset brother, Zeke around.  Yelled at me when I was late giving her glucosamine pill.  She asked to go out around 11:30.  She went out happy and normal and 20 minutes later came in with head hanging and hardly able to walk.  We went to the vets, they took x-rays and saw something strange.  Exploratory surgery revealed a huge tumor on her liver, inoperable and most likely more tumors in her other organs along with much internal bleeding.  So she never woke up from the surgery.  She was so shocky that they could not keep her alive long enough for me to say goodbye.  I miss her so much already, she has slept with me most every night for the last 11 years.  She has whined and begged and got her way when she wanted a cookie or a carrot.  She could sit up like a gopher and beg for food.  And she had a lovely voice and would sing songs with me.  I love you, Molly Polly and will see you again one day.  Zeke and Ernie the cat will miss you too!

Sandy, I'm so terribly sorry for you on the loss of your dear old girl. Our pets are such an integral and wonderful part of our lives, and there's always an awful hole in our hearts when they leave us. It must be a comfort to you that she was happy right to the end. You'll be in my thoughts.

Sandy,
My heart breaks for you in your sorrow. I do Bulldog rescue and even though it is a far more common ocurrence than I care for, it never gets easy! The pain is just proof of how much these little ones bury themselves deep into our hearts! You are right though, you will see this baby again!! Take care and know that you were loved as much as she was!

Sandy, the hardest thing to do is let our fur children go. But we have to treat them with the dignity that hopefully someone will give us when it's our time. Molly is a beauty and she has already been welcomed by my Nebbie, Alex and Clancy and many others on the other side and is romping thru the clover. Her spirit is with you forever, so she isn't ever gone. Just think of her with joy even as a tear falls. It will get better for you as your sadness is replaced with memories no one can take away. Fur hugs from my heart to yours.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just lost my Lab in almost the same way. They are little 4 footed, furry children and she was blessed to have your love and care just as she blessed you with her's.

Hello Sandy--
I am so sorry for your loss. I know a little of what you are going through. I have had to put both of my Siamese cats to sleep this past year. My Ariel, was 20, had a cancerous tumor, and I lost her last February. Our other Siamese, Sumo, was 13, had a cancerous tumor in his intestines. We lost him last Tuesday. It is extremely hard because you spoil them rotten and treat them like your babies.
On a brighter note, I am excited to hear you are teaching classes for MCC. I will definitely be signing up for at least one of them.
Take care
Debbie

Sandy,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Our pets become part of the family and burrow their way into our hearts. 6 years ago this month our cat Tigger was diagnosed with a cancerous kidney at the age of 15. She had been fine and then just after Christmas went right off her food. We had time for a proper goodbye, but knew she was not able to carry on for long and that final visit to the vet was inevitable. 3 years previously, her sister Tasha suddenly went off her feet at 4.15 on a Sunday afternoon - we had her at the vets by 5pm and we were burying her at 6pm. She had had an aortic aneurysm yet in one way, the speed of it seemed better, even though it was so sudden and such a shock.

As with Molly, she seemed happy and fine until the last couple of hours of her life and that helped us through it a lot, knowing that she hadn't had to suffer very long. We miss them both even now, and the other cats never fill the gap they've left, but at least when we lose our little furry brothers and sisters we have all the happy, funny memories of our animal companions to help us through, as do you. And judging by the way our present 3 cats act at times, I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that our first two fur-balls are still a-visiting on occasion. :-)

With kind thoughts and blessings,

Karen

Sandy, I'm so sorry for your loss. Letting go of a beloved pet is like saying goodbye to a child. But at least Molly is no longer in pain and probably having a ball up in doggie heaven. You'll be in my prayers as you grieve your loss. {{{{Hugs}}}}

I was so saddened to read the news today about Molly. It can be doubly difficult to take our friends to the vet, expecting them to come home....and have them pass on instead. It's almost like a double shock with no time to really prepare for it. I am sure all the great memories will stay with you.
