Outlines Poinsettia

Outlines Rubber Stamps has these great poinsettia ornament toppers and they make spectacular ornaments.  I made these a couple of years ago.  They also have holly and really cool geometric shapes and now snowflakes.  But did you know that you can also use them to make beautiful flowers?

I stamped both the Large and Small poinsettia toppers onto Azalea Stardreams cardstock with Archival Jet black ink.  I heat set the ink and then cut them out.  I stamped the Poinsettia Center onto Amber Stardreams cardstock  and cut it out as well.  Before assembling the flower, I dry embossed the back side of the petals to give them a rounded look.    I stamped the saying - A Season of Miracles, also from Outlines, onto Azalea and trimmed it out.  The DP is from the Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather paper pack.  I added Stickles in the dots around the saying and pearls to the border paper.  Finished size is 5 x 7 inches.

A comment was left asking about the dry embossing of the petals on the poinsettia.  First rub the backside of the card stock with wax paper, it helps the tool to slide easier.  Then using the largest end of the embossing tool and an embossing mat slowly emboss the petals using small circular motions.  It will stretch the card stock and give it a rounded look.  This technique can be used with any punched, trimmed or die cut image to give it some dimension.

Sandy, this is beautiful! I love the colors together. Can you post what you mean when you say you dry embossed the back of the flowers? I don't know what that means, and I love the look of the petals. Thanks, Kaye
