Cheery Lynn Designs Bargello

Cheery Lynn Designs has a new product called Weavers and Wickers.  These are cutting and embossing plates that create strips of paper 1/4" wide for the Wickers and 1/2" wide for the Weavers.  I decided to create a Bargello background with the strips of paper.

Using the larger versions of each plate and an assortment of 4 solid color papers from the Basic Grey Lollipop Shoppe collection, I cut a full plate of strips;
 1/4" wide from the red
 1/4" wide from the blue
 1/2' wide from the green
 1/2" wide from the peach

Then using a piece of card stock 6 inches square as a base, I glued them down in a diagonal pattern.  This looked pretty good but I wanted to take it one step further.  I cut vertical strips 3/4" wide out of this paper and then started a new pattern.  And here is the result.....

I liked the background so much, I did not want to cover it up.  So I added two Oriental Butterfly Doilies to the panel.  Using my Scalloped Diamonds border and some patterned paper from the same collection, I created the nice border accent, adding some pearls as a finishing touch.  This was a fun technique and one I want to try again soon.  Finished size is 6" square.  Please be sure to visit the Cheery Lynn Designs blog for more great inspiration from the design team.

Sandy, this is BEAUTIFUL! Any quilter and everyone else will be proud of you. Know this must have taken a while to do, but well worth the results. Will try it one of these days. Edna

I love your quilted creation. I made a similar background a few weeks ago, but did not have the advantage of the weavers and wickers plates. I am thinking these will go on the wish list now too. What you did is beautiful!
