Outlines Bleach It or Not challenge

Our team challenge this week for Outlines Rubber Stamp is to use a stamp from the Bleach It or Not line of stamps and then.... bleach it or not. Visit the Outlines Rubber Stamp blog to join the challenge for a chance to win a $25 shopping spree and to see what the rest of the design team has created.

I forgot how much fun bleaching card stock can be.  Using I-200 Summer Flowers I decided to experiment and see what results I get with different papers.  I stamped the image with Versafine Black Onyx ink then added bleach with a small paint brush.  The first thing I learned was smooth card stock works best.  I started with a piece of green Bazzill, the top left sample.  The image did not stamp well due to the raised pattern of the card stock but I liked the bleached yellow color.  The rest of the samples are stamped on smooth card stock.  You can see the different colors that resulted from the bleach.  The other green card stock I used bleached to a white.  And the blue card stock bleached to a soft aqua.

So for my card I went with a piece of ColorMates Deep Cocoa card stock and found out that you can change the color results based on how wet you get it with bleach.  Using an almost dry brush will only soften the color, giving you some darker petals.  This really is quite fun to do.

So as you can see, my brown card stock bleached to a lovely soft yellow.  I bleached all the flowers in this one, some with more bleach then others.  I also bleached around the border of my "Wherever you are..." stamp.  I created a card base out of the same Deep Cocoa card stock, adding a black panel then a background using a piece of DP from the Jillibean Dutch Mustard 6x6 pad.  I matted my sentiment on black card stock as well.  Finished size is 6" square.

Be sure to visit the Outlines blog and join in on the challenge for a chance to win a $25 shopping spree at Outlines Rubber Stamp company.

Fabulous work! I have to admit I've been a bit leary about using bleach with stamped images in the past... you have completely inspired me to try! Love the color variations you've achieved!

WOW-- stunning results on all of the test images.... the end effect is so neat. I'm going to have to pull the bleach bottle out soon... its been a long time since I played with it. You and Robin were totally in sync this week -- beautiful cards! Love that you bleached around the border stamp too. Big thanks for showing all your inspiring samples.

LOVE seeing your test results, Sandy! I also tested, but wasn't quite brave enough to show the varied results. It's always surprising to see which cardstocks respond in which colors. Love your final creation as well. It's been a pleasure to work alongside you on the remarkable Outlines Team!
