Sugar Nellie Nathan

One of my students in my Copic 102 class at My Creative Classroom wanted to know how to color blond hair, specifically a "tow-head boy".  Here is what I colored up for her

Isn't he a cutie?  This is a digital image from Sugar Nellie called Nathan.  I printed him onto Cryogen paper with my inkjet printer.  Copics used:
Hair - Y000, E50, E51
Face - E0000, E000, E00
Shirt - B32, B34
Bear - E40, E41, E42, E43, R20

For my card, I deepened his hair a bit with E53 and added E21 to his face to deepen the shadows there as well.  To create the die cut panel around Nathan, I used my Cheery Lynn Designs Horizon Coved Rectangle die.  Behind this panel, I added a French Pastry Doily that I cut in half, peeking part out of each side.  At this point, I knew I needed something else done in white as there is not a lot of white on the DP for the Life of the Party Basic Grey 6x6 paper pad.  Then I remembered that the Cheery Lynn Designs Francesca border matches the design of the French Pastry Doily.  Perfect.  The last step was some blue brads and some cream Viva Decor Pearl Pen accents.  Finished size is 6" square.

WOW! With such an excellent image and wonderful coloring this almost looks like a photograph! Best colored "stamp" I've seen on the web in a VERY long time and believe me I look at a lot of cards every day! LOL! And to think... I bought a lot of Copics and am pretty much afraid to use them.

Hi Sandy, yes I'm the student who wanted to know how to color a towheaded boy. You did a wonderful job, and I now have added those hair colors to my list of favorites. And if any of you are contemplating taking one of Sandy's copics courses, you should JUST DO IT! You will learn so much about light sources, shading, highlights, color combos, the list is long. I consider myself a fairly advanced copics colorer (is that a word), and I've taken every class she offers online, and have never regretted.
