I grew up in New Jersey across the bay from a lighthouse, so I really enjoy creating lighthouse scenes. All the stamps in this scene are from Repeat Impressions. Because the lighthouse stamp is 5 3/4 x 4 1/2 inches it makes quite a large scene, but it is a wonderfully detailed stamp of Portland Head Light in Maine. The sky is an airbrushed combination of B21 Baby Blue and R81 Rose Pink. I used R39 Garnet for the building rooftops. The water is BG000 Pale Aqua, I just kept adding layers to get the different shades of blue. For the Blue Heron, I started out with BV20 Dull Lavendar for the heaviest feathered areas, then blended it with C1 Cool Gray. His legs are Cool Gray 1 and his beak is YR12 Loquat. The rocks are a mix of E70 Ash Rose, G82 Spring Dim Green and E11 Bareley Beige. For the sandy areas I used E50 Egg Shell, up around the buildings I added a layer of G20 Wax White for a touch of green. I used G82 Spring Dim Green for all the tufts of grass and BV13 Hydrangea Blue for the flowers. I again used G82 for the cattail leaves and E35 Chamois for the cattails. Last step was the pine branches to direct your eye into the scene, I colored the branches and the pine cones with E44 Clay. The finished size including mats is 9 x 7 3/4 inches. Reminds me of home.
