Sept/Oct Rubber Stamp Madness

I was quite surprised when I visited the Rubber Stamp Madness magazine website and found my scene being used as advertising for the current issue. I knew I was being published but am honored they felt it worthy of selling issues. They used it again on the Current Issue page. I have been working on some pieces for the Jan/Feb issue, Kings/Queens, etc is the theme so I don't have new art to share today. But I thought I might share my scenes that have been previously published.

The scene on the right was published in the centerfold of the March/April 2008 issue. The theme was architecture. I had submitted the scene for the scenic book but they decided they wanted it for this issue. It is stamped on glossy paper and colored with dye inks and a Colorbox stylus. I also did some coloring with Tombow markers. This scene was done prior to me owning Copics markers. All stamps are Stampcapes except the boats and dock which is an old PSX/Inkadinkado stamp that has been retired.

For the Nov/Dec 2006 issue, RSM decided to do a centerfold using photoscapes (stamping on sky photos) Of the 5 scenes I submitted they chose this one (I liked it the least, lol). I printed my sky onto glossy cardstock, heat set it and then stamped the scene using Marvy black ink. I heat set again and then added some color using Tombow markers. I took this sunset picture near my house, but I turned it upside down to stamp on. Here is the original photo so you can see how I used the clouds and sky for the best effect. All of the stamps in this scene are Stampscapes.

I did receive notice from Rubber Stamp Madness that they will be using 2 of my pieces for the upcoming Scenic book. I encourage everyone to submit art to magazines. It is incredibly fun to see your name in print and it helps to promote this wonderful craft we enjoy so much.

Your scenic cards are such an inspiration! I've used a couple of "dud" photos for backgrounds, but not as often any more since I've gone digital. I'll have to try taking some photos just for that purpose.

These are spectacular. You deserve to be published.

Both pictures are beautiful. Everything I see of your work is deserving of being published.

It doesn't surprise me at all that RSM would use your work to sell their magazine. That's what you get for being so good

I am always impressed and inspired by your incredible artwork. Thanks so much. I had never heard of photoscapes before and I appreciate that you explained how you did this step by step. Maybe one day I can try it too. I thoroughly enjoy your blog entries!
