Brayered Decorating for the Holidays

I began by stamping my Christmouse Decorations with Versacolor Black and embossing with clear powder. I colored it with my LePlume markers and learned a trick. While the ink is still wet and streaky, you can smooth some of it out with a clean finger. After coloring, I used a Versamark pen to clear emboss the rest of the image.

A few posts ago I warned about creating mud when brayering. Well that is what happened with this scene. I could not really decide what color I wanted on the bottom, so I tried a lot of them. All of the inks I used for the brayering portion are Adirondacks.

I started with Sandal, then added some Butterscotch, oh no, too orange and bright. So I added Lettuce, now I had an ugly orange green, ick. I am just going to list the other colors I added, truthfully, I am not sure in what order.....Oregano, Pesto, Denim, Stream, Bottle and finally a layer of Peach Bellini and this is the end result. I don think this is a color you will find in nature but at least I saved the scene.

For the sky, my base color is Cool Peri, followed by Denim and then a very thin layer of Purple Surf. I finished it with another coat of Cool Peri.

I used Archival Jet Black to stamp the rest of the images. For the grass texture, I only used part of the stamp. I colored the portion I wanted with my black Tombow marker, huffed on it, and stamped it down. I did the same thing with the gulls, the stamp has 4 but I only wanted 3 in my scene. I love using parts of stamps to accomplish what I need.

I used a white glaze pen for the falling snow. All in all, I think it turned out pretty cute. The finished size is 5 x 7 inches.
