Life is like riding a bicycle

Sandy here with you today.  I apologize for my late posting, Michigan weather is at it again.  We had a pretty major lightning and thunderstorm last night and it fried my network port on my desktop computer so I was unable to connect to the internet.  But enough about that, for my card today, I have a cute easel card using an adorable image from Sarah Kay.

I created my card base with my Scalloped Square Lg Stackers adding background papers with the coordinating Silver Square Stackers.  I added a Pinwheel Doily w/Angel Wing and then used my Scalloped Oval Lg Stackers and coordinating Silver Oval Stackers for the stamped image.  I added a couple of Zig Zag Ric Rac border pieces on the left and across the top.

For the base of the card, I added Victorian Picket Fence, Grass border and Little Pink Bicycle.  These great papers are from the Paper Loft Everyday Life collection and so is the sentiment in blue on the upper panel.  The last step was to add the Sending Smiles sentiment from Hero Arts stamped and layered with Tags 2.  Finished size is 6" square.

Showcasing Copics

This week at ABC Toys and Crafts - Copic Markers are on Sale!
20% off Sets and Single Copic Markers in stock. (NO COUPON NEEDED)
Offer good until June 26th, 2010

Since we are showcasing Copic markers at ABC Toys and Crafts this week, I grabbed my Sarah Kay stamps.  I can't think of any stamps I love to color more than these cuties!  This is My Sweet Lili.  I stamped her onto Cryogen paper with Memento Tuxedo black ink.  Copics used:
Lili - RV10, E000
Hair - E21, E25
Dress - E00, E01, RV10, RV11
Bow and dress trim - G40
Bear - E71, R20
Bear's dress - BG72
I knew I wanted to use my Basic Grey Capella paper and began coloring Lili's dress with E01.  A nice soft peachy color that matched the shading on the DP but I got a little heavy handed when I blended it with E00 and it was far too orange for the paper.  Not to worry, that is the beauty of Copics, they are dye inks and can be layered to create new colors.  So I added RV11 and RV10 on top of the previous colors and you see the end result.  A perfect matching color.

I airbrushed E71 around the image before removing it from my Spellbinders Labels Eight die.   I hand cut the brown layer behind the die.  I laid the die I used to cut the image, flat side down, onto my card stock and traced around it.  I cut it out and a perfect copy about 1/8 inch larger than the original.  Finished size is 5 x 7
 inches.

ABC Toys & Crafts First Challenge

ABC Toys & Crafts is running its first challenge this week..."I love you......Sweetheart"  So I chose to use this fabulous Sarah Kay image called "Can I tell you a secret?"  I am so excited that ABC has decided to carry Sarah Kay stamps, I just love these little kids.

I began by making a side step card, I stamped the kids with Memento black ink onto Cryogen paper.  Copics used:
Boy's Jeans - B91
Patches - YR21, G40, BV11
Hair - E13, E19
Shoes - E33, E37
Girl's Dress & Bow - RV23, R25
Shoes - C3, C5
Hair - E33
Skin - E000, E00, E02

Here is a scan of the card from the side, I love this fold.  It works great for displaying photos or as a gift card holder.  The heart embellishments are from K&Company, the DP is from Archivers.  This is a normal A2 size card, 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

Well the card looked kind of lonely so I decided to make another candy holder.  For this I used QBee's Flower Pot Box template  I printed it on the back side of my card stock then just cut it out and added DP.  Very quick and oh so easy.

So hurry on over to ABC's Toys and Crafts blog to enter the challenge for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the store.

Sarah Kay Picnic girl

Once again using an image from the Copic coloring class I taught, I have created another card. It is so much fun to finally have some time to use all these images I colored months ago.

I found this wonderful DP from Chatterbox, all 3 patterns are from the same collection. I felt the paper was busy enough that the card did not need a lot of embellishments. Just some ribbon, gems and a butterfly. Very simple card.

I was inspired to layer and turn the Nestie dies from a blog post by Mary from Copic Creations. Her card is fabulous, be sure to check it out.

I am off to teach a Stampscapes Brayer class. Thanks for stopping by.

Basic Grey Sketch challenge

While blog hopping, I came across a Basic Grey challenge blog with their first sketch challenge. You have to use at least one element from Basic Grey on your card.

So following the sketch, I created this card with a sweet Sarah Kay image from my Copic Coloring class. All of the DP is from the Basic Grey Color Me Silly collection pack.

I love Basic Grey papers. I have so many of the older collections so I am thrilled to find this blog. Now maybe I will get them out and use them.

I used a punch to created the spotted flower then dry embossed on the backside to give it a rounded look. Finished size is 5 7/8 inches square.

Mojo Monday challenge

I made this card using the Mojo Monday Sketch challenge on the Poetic Artistry Blog. The image is from Sarah Kay stamps.

Usually I pick out my paper first and then color the image. But this time I colored first and then went in search of paper to complete the card. I was amazed to find this DP by Heidi Grace that perfectly matched the colors I chose to use. I wanted to use Victorian colors for an Olde World feel.

For the boy, I chose the following:
Hat and coat: G24 Willow and G28 Ocean Green
Pants: E35 Chamois and E37 Sepia
Scarf: R39 Garnet
For the girl, I used these markers:
Hat and coat: R85 Rose Red and R39 Garnet
Skirt and ribbon on hat: G12 Sea Green
Flower on hat: R39 Garnet
Their faces are E00 Skin White and E02 Fruit Pink.

I made the mistake of putting my markers away before writing this blog post, so I am sorry, I don't really remember the rest of the colors that I used. This was a fun sketch to do, I hope it inspires you to create a card of your own.
