Sugar Nellie Victoria

This cute image is called Victoria and she is a digi image from Sugar Nellie.  It has such great detail and is a dream to color.  I sized and printed her onto Cryogen paper with my new laser printer.  Copics used:
Victoria - E00, E000
Eyes - B12
Hair - YR21
Jacket - G40, G43
Dress - R11, R12
Shadow - W1
To create the card, I first cut a yellow base, 5 x 7 inches.  Then using my Celtic Chain Rectangle Reflection dies I added the green panel to which I added a piece of DP from my First Edition Hideaway 6 x 6 paper pack.  Next came the yellow panel die cut using my Horizon Coved Rectangle Reflection dies.  I backed the image with a Scallop Oval Stackers die.  The last step was the flowers.  I used Miniature Rose dies as well as Darling Daisies.  I added some Olive Branches and the ends of my Lace Rose and Flourish die.  All dies are from Cheery Lynn Designs.

Sugar Nellie Nathan

One of my students in my Copic 102 class at My Creative Classroom wanted to know how to color blond hair, specifically a "tow-head boy".  Here is what I colored up for her

Isn't he a cutie?  This is a digital image from Sugar Nellie called Nathan.  I printed him onto Cryogen paper with my inkjet printer.  Copics used:
Hair - Y000, E50, E51
Face - E0000, E000, E00
Shirt - B32, B34
Bear - E40, E41, E42, E43, R20

For my card, I deepened his hair a bit with E53 and added E21 to his face to deepen the shadows there as well.  To create the die cut panel around Nathan, I used my Cheery Lynn Designs Horizon Coved Rectangle die.  Behind this panel, I added a French Pastry Doily that I cut in half, peeking part out of each side.  At this point, I knew I needed something else done in white as there is not a lot of white on the DP for the Life of the Party Basic Grey 6x6 paper pad.  Then I remembered that the Cheery Lynn Designs Francesca border matches the design of the French Pastry Doily.  Perfect.  The last step was some blue brads and some cream Viva Decor Pearl Pen accents.  Finished size is 6" square.

More Fun with Texture

For my card today, I wanted to use my new Blacked Eyed Susans embossing plate from Cheery Lynn Designs.  I decided to also use my Core'dinations Black Magic color core paper. This is such fun paper, black on the outside and a wide range of colors on the inside.  I chose a rich butter color that I associate with black-eyed susans.  So with the black side up, I embossed the card stock then took my Core'dinations Sand It Gadget and sanded the paper so the yellow core appeared.  Too cool!

Because the embossing plate is so large, 5 7/8 x 7 1/2 inches, I was able to create a background for a 6" square card.  Using my Potted Flowers Die, I created these great flowers, dry embossing the back to give them some roundness.  I added some texture to the centers with my Large Circle Stitcher plate, again sanding the top to let the yellow show through.  I die cut the leaves using Large Dimensional Leaves 2, adding a bit of Black Soot Distress ink to the edges.  Using my Oval Silver Stackers and a piece of green core Black Magic paper, I die cut the oval panel, adding texture with my Large Oval Stitcher plate and again sanding the paper to let the green show through.  I backed this with a green panel cut with my coordinating Large Scallop Oval Stackers die.  To create the corner pieces, I die cut a circle using my Little Stackers Circle die, adding texture with my stitcher plate and sanding so the yellow shows through.  I then cut it into quarters and used one for each of the corners.  The last step was to find an image that would work with all of this, lol, backwards I know but I was having fun with all the textures.  I decided on this very vintage digi image from Sugar Nellie called Grace Standing.  Isn't she adorable?  I sized and printed her onto Cryogen paper and colored her with Copics:
Grace - E000, E00
Eyes- B12
Hair - E11
Coat - G40, YR21
Dress, Stockings and Bow - YR20, YR21
Socks - G40
Shoes - W1

The last step was to add some Gold pearl accents with my Viva Decor Pearl pen.  Finished size is 6" square.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will try some texture in your life.

Sugar Bowl Sketch Challenge

I saw this sketch over at the Sugar Bowl challenge blog and just knew I had to play along.  What a great sketch!  Just check out all those layers.  You also have to use 3 flowers, 2 brads and a button.  Why not join in the challenge, you could win a free Sugar Nellie stamp and a Basic Grey goodie bag from Funky Kits.

I stamped this sweet Sugar Nellie stamp called Reflective onto Cryogen paper with my Momento Tuxedo black ink. Copics used:
Bibs - V12, V01
Patches - RV32, V12, V17
Top - G40, YG63
Hair - E33  Bows - V17
Face - E000, E00
Basket - E21, E33
Apples - Y15, R27
Grass - G40
Flowers - Y19, V15, RV32

This great paper is from the Memory Box 6x6 Sprout paper collection (I used it on my last card too).  Aren't those colors and patterns just luscious?  I punched the flowers out of the same paper and dry embossed them to give a rounded look to the petals.  The leaves are a Martha Stewart punch.  Finished size is 6: square.

Sugar Nellie Christmas Honey

I made this card for the Sugar Bowl Sketch Challenge #17. I think this is a fabulous sketch but not only do you have to follow the sketch, you have to make your own flowers, no premades allowed.

I began with this adorable Sugar Nellie Christmas Honey, stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink onto Cryogen white paper. Copics used:
Dress & Bows - R29, R59
Holly - YG67
Berries - R21
Hair - E13, E19
Face - E000, E00, E02
Bear - E33, R21
Bell - YR23, YR24

I added some Spica pen to the berries and the bell for some added bling. Then I airbrushed YR20 around the edge before removing it from my Nestie oval die. Using 2 Marvy daisy punches and 2 EK retro punches I created the flowers. I dry embossed them from the back to give them a rounded look. The branch is a Martha Stewart punch.

Please Mr. Postman

I made this card for the Stampin' for the Weekend challenge #3. The challenge is to use one of these song titles for Inspiration.
The choices are.....
A Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum
Time of the Season - Zombies
Please Mr. Postman - Marvelettes

I have this great Postbox stamp from Sugar Nellie that I had not inked yet, so this was the perfect reason.

I also decided to combine this challenge with the Copic Colour Challenge to use the colors
R85 - Rose Red
BG05 - Holiday Blue and
Y15 - Cadmium Yellow

I have had such a great day stamping for fun rather than prepping for a class or a deadline. I hope you have enjoyed my cards and are inspired to join in on the fun. Don't forget to check out this post for news about a great stamp giveaway from Repeat Impressions stamps.

Lilian's Sketch Sugar Bowl Challenge 13

Using my "Country Style" stamp from Sugar Nellie and this great sketch from Lilian over at the Sugar Bowl, I created this card. Also, the challenge is to use the color "kraft" in your card.

I started to use Stampin Up Kraft paper but then found this wonderful striped paper in my stash and went from there. I stamped my image with Memento Tuxedo black ink onto Cryogen white paper from Cutcardstock.com. Then coloring with Copics:
Face - E000, E00, E02, R20
Hair - YR12, YR18
Bows - BG92, BG96, R59

Apple Picking Time by Sugar Nellie

Here is a very bright and cheerful card. I knew I wanted to use this image for a class I was teaching, so I searched through my stash of papers and found this paper from Kaiser Craft. It was perfect for the image.

Of course, she is stamped on Cryogen white with Memento Tuxedo black ink. The following Copic markers were used:
Hat & Bibs - RV14, RV21
Patches - V04
Flowers - V04, YR68
Leaves - YG25
Top - Y18, Y00
Hair - E17
Face - E00, E02
Basket - E21, E33
Apples - Y18, R27

I airbrushed the flowers with YG25 and V17 to match, as well as the gems on the corners. This was a very quick card, few embellishments but I think it puts a smile on your face.

I am off to teach Stampscapes today but will post the rest of my class cards soon. As always, thanks for stopping by.

February Class Samples

I got together with my wonderful stamping ladies today. They have me come in once a month and teach a class. It is a lot of fun.

Here are the cards we made. The first three are stamped on glossy paper from the Paper Cut and colored with Adirondack dye inks applied with a Colorbox stylus. If you would like to see me in action, be sure to check out the videos on the right side of my blog.

I stick pretty much to the same ink colors on these...
Grass and Trees- Lettuce, Meadow, Pesto and some Latte
Path - Latte
Water - Ocean Aqua, Pool
Rocks - Mushroom, Ginger
Sky - Cloudy Blue, Stonewashed
For the Mountain, I used Mushroom in the sample but Slate also works nicely. The small rock coloring and the details in the trees and pines were done with Tombow and LePlume markers.

The first two cards are using stamps from Stampscapes but the third is all Sutter stamps. Edna and Bev wanted me to show them how to use the individual snow covered pine branches from Sutter. They come in three sizes and you just keep layering them until you have a tree the right height. There are center branch pieces also but we did not use them for this card. It requires quite a bit of masking to build a tree from scratch using the right, center and left branches. So I just quickly explained the process.

For the last card, we played with my new Daisy stamp from Sugar Nellie. Isn't she just the cutest? Thank you, Sheila for sending her to me. She is stamped on Cryogen paper with Memento black ink and colored with Copics.

Face - E000, E00, E02
Top - R12, R14
Jeans - B91, B95
Patches - R22, R24
Belt - E33
Hair - YR12, YR14
Flowers - R22
Leaves and Grass - YG63
I used a gold Spica pen for the flower centers.

The DP is from K&Company, the Classic collection. I created the top two flowers with my McGill daisy punches. Finished size on each of these is 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

Porridge the pig

My wonderful friend, Sheila, sent me this great stamp, his name is Porridge and he is from Sugar Nellie stamps. I just love him.

I began by stamping him on Cryogen paper and coloring the image with my Copics. Sorry, I had to move onto another project and put my markers from this away so I am not sure what colors I used. But today I got back to poor Porridge and die cut him out with my Nestabilities Label Two die. Before removing him from the die, I masked a horizon and airbrushed B34 in the sky and E53 on the ground. I used my Copic Multiliner to add some grass on the horizon line. Then I added some squiggles in the dirt around the pig.

The DP is from the Oh! Baby Girl collection from Basic Grey. I airbrushed the blue flower and the rhinestones to match. Finished size is 5 3/8" square.

RAK from Sheila

I received the most fabulous card in the mail today from my friend Sheila in the UK. Isn't she just adorable? And look at the flowers and leaves. This is such a spectacular card. Be sure to check out Sheila's blog, she has just started sharing her art with us.

And not only did I get a card but she sent me a bunch of great embellishments for my cards as well as six Sugar Nellie stamps. So I now have my own Daisy (the little girl) and Porridge (the pig) to create cards as well.

Thank you, Sheila, I can't wait to get them inky.
